BIO

The Dominican singer/songwriter Vicente García is the spokesperson for new Latin artists who are challenging labels and redefining musical genres. García brilliantly fuses Dominican bachata, Cuban son, Jazz, the Motown influence, the sweetness of Stevie Wonder ballads, and the flavor of Latin percussion, while draping his music with poetic, folksy, and bluesy lyrics. Although such a diverse and sophisticated background in music is typically associated with more traditional or academic training, García is almost completely self-taught, relying for the most part on his boundless passion for music. This sense of independence fueled his desire to launch his solo career, after his previous band "Calor Urbano" had achieved success, catching the eye of musical greats such as Juan Luis Guerra, the latter inviting the band to tour with him as his opening act for international appearances. With his first album “Melodrama” (Capitol Latin, 2011) under his belt, García is currently preparing a new record expected to be released in 2014.
